daisy

the golden girl. this refers to daisy as being the most prized girl the most pretty, and the girl everyone wants to win over.

Explain how Daisy could be considered clever. Use at least one quote from the text to support your answer.

“I hope she’ll be a fool—that’s the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool.”

because back then girls only needed to be beautiful they didnt need to be smart at all just look good and the man will take care of the rest.

The notes above talk about how Gatsby views Daisy as a possession to be collected. Explain this further. Find a quote from the text to support your answer and explain how the quote supports your ideas.

gatsby has shown to talk about daisy like shes a possession for example when the truth all finally came out in front of tom they started arguing about she this she is and were just making her sound like a thing not a human person.

“she is at the mercy of her husband, a man who takes her for granted.she is ‘chased’ by another man who simply sees her as a possession to collect and keep.” this quate here is explaining what i have just said above. tom has thought now that shes his he doesnt have to do anything about it anymore. and gatsby wont stop trying to get her and if he did end up marrying daisy what would happen after that shes been collected and then put to the side.

Describe what life was like in the 1920’s for women. After you have done so, explain why you think Daisy wants her daughter to be a ‘fool’ in this world.

women back then only needed to look the part they didn’t need to be smart or clever the men would do everything for them and they would just be there. and I think daisy wants her child to be a fool because all she needs to be is to look stunning and the rest of her life will be a peice of cake.

Towards the end of the novel, Nick says that Daisy and Tom were “careless people…they smashed up things and creatures, and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness, or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made…”. Explain what Daisy ‘smashes up’ (figuratively speaking) in this story.

she smashes up her life gatsby’s life and arguably toms life as well. gatsby life, well he died because of daisy but he the thing that made it worse was that he didn’t see his death coming and he took all the blame for what daisy did and thought nothing of what could happen. her life well because she has the guilt of someone’s death on her chest and that’s never coming off. and toms life because they were both cheating on each other and daisy has almost no consequences because of that and tom did so there relationship can’t be very trustworthy let alone strong in anyway.

Explain how Daisy could be considered ‘amoral’. Use at least two quotes from the text to support your answer.

well no one knows that she killed someone she didn’t care about gatsby’s death and she’s going back to tom because she now has nothing and she needs someone to carry her though all her troubles.

“daisy reflects the amoral world of the uber rich. her lack of genuine compassion or even care for others.”

“the word careless can also be used to describe daisy as well.”
